2002 FAMILY DAY REPORT
The Twin Cities Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society-sponsored event was held again at Wings North in Pine City, MN. This years event hosted a variety of presenters with some new faces and old favorites. And everyone walked away with a raffle prize.
Rick Horton, RGS biologist for Minnesota, updated us on grouse populations and what we can expect for the upcoming year. He also caught us up on news and points of interest concerning forest management and politics shaping the future of our forests. We had a BB gun range for the kids. There was a cooking demonstration with our own Jay and Donna Tirpak and lunch was served compliments of the RGS.
We had both flushing dog and pointing dog demos with Pine Shadows Kennels and the people from NAVDA. A black powder exhibition was provided by Randy Hengel of Territorial Gunsmiths and fly fishing instruction from Tracy Compton of Bentlys Outfitters. The day wrap-up was sporting clays at Wings North.
It was a day to pack up the family and enjoy Prizes, Free Lunch, Information, and Fun.
