Habitat Day 2002- Planting wildlife vegetation at Four Brooks Wildlife Management Area.

2002 HABITAT DAY REPORT

This year's habitat day featured planting trees at Four Brooks Wildlife Management Day.
This was the third year we planted trees in the Mille Lacs area. The last two year's events have been very successful. We helped the birds by planting over 2,000 trees. This year's project will enhance grouse habitat as we planted trees and bushes that provide both food and a source of cover. We planted these trees and bushes to ensure habitat for future generations of wintering grouse. The area planted was a former field that was burned in preparation for the planting, and for the regeneration of the root stock present from previous growth.
Wildlife personnel from the Mille Lacs WMA were on hand to assist us. They are great forest wildlife advocates, and our stewards for these wildlife areas. This is where some of your banquet's money is being spent.
